What a year 2006 was !

The Rig in Trona

Looking Back at 2006

We wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted but Euro-centric calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. (Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere).

Major Events in 2006

January
We started the year off with the 5th Annual Pre-H&Q BBQ, convening our friends for a warm up to THE biotech event of the year 2006. Right after off we went to Hawaii for vacation - got to take the road to Hana and learn surfing (while we live in Half Moon Bay).

February
Daniela went well on her way to ridemanship by going off the horse for the third time, causing significant damage to her ankle ligaments. After masterful chiropractic she recovered in record time to pick up training again for the 2006 Tevis Cup. Thanks Dr. Nick!

March
While Daniela was recovering, Michael got himself into the ophthalmology business. Of course the heritage shows.

April
We signed up for community service and joined the San Mateo County Mounted Search & Rescue. The annual BIO Conference took Michael to Chicago.

May

June
Michael and Louie were certified as Search & Rescue team. Argos turned out to be more bark than bite and flunked the tests. The soccer world championship came and went in Germany.

July
We enjoyed as throughout the year the plentiful products from our garden. Now in its third year, more produce is coming, still always room for improvement.

August
Daniela took Louie to do the Tevis Cup 2006, the mother of all races, and was awarded a buckle - A BUCKLE... She finished 21st out of a field of more than 200 of which 85 actually finished the grueling 100 miles ride from Truckee to Auburn. Monika, Silvia and Michael posed as bad crew.

September

October
Daniela took her endurance riding career to the international level and started in Brazil. A week later we celebrated our seventh aniversary returning back to beloved Mendocino where our exrtravaganza had started many years ago. Finally, Michael got sworn in as a volunteer for the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Mounted Search & Rescue unit.

November
Michael had his unspeakable birthday, biggest party ever (550 guests convening at Fort Mason). He also finally finished the earthquake retrofit of the house - and got it inspected and approved.

December
Early in the month Michael went on tour with the annual BayBio:Impact report, taking him to a changed D.C.

Our wishes for 2007

Okay, let's see, hmm, a new 42" LCD HD-TV? Nahh...

As 2006 was a year of relative stability for all of us at Purisima Creek Ranch, we are all looking to 2007, which will bring more change, job wise for sure, and we are also hoping for a new baby horse in summer.
